DEATHS & SUICIDES
I am the first active Chaplain for the Lost Hills / Malibu Sheriff's Department in it's 20 year history. I am on call 24/7 for emergencies.
SUICIDES - In spite of our affluent communities of Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura and Westlake Villiage, SUICIDE (especially among the youth) is on the rise. We can have multiple suicides in one week. The Chaplain is one of the first responders to a scene of a suicide or accident. I offer support for the Deputies, Lieutenants and Sergeants. My role is to stand beside the family members to help them process the news and offer comfort and guidance during those darkest moments. I'm there to help them work through their losses from that first moment of notification until they are able to move forward with their lives as long as they need me. I offer spiritual counsel to those who seek it.I provide individual and family grief counseling. I offer to help make family calls and notification or provide practical support.I counsel them to get friend support immediately.I guide them through the steps of making arrangements with the funeral home, newspaper obituraries and ongoing family support.I am available when asked to conduct the service for the family.I work with broken families regardless of their background. I am available by phone, texting and emails for as long as the family needs me. I pray for them throughout the healing period.I become a friend of the family that remains to help them have hope for their future.I offer suicide awareness classes.
